Every podcast show comes with an awesome podcast website which you can customize to your own design. If you don't want your own website, because you already have a website or simply don't use it, you can turn your podcast website off. In this article we'll explain how that works.
Redirect your podcast show
Your podcast website can be disabled in your Springcast account by switching the slider in the Create Podcast page field to the left (see image below). The slider will now turn grey. Please be aware that you can only turn your website off when you host with an Advanced or higher package.
The next step is submitting the URL of your existing website in the Podcast website URL field (see image below). Now your podcast player will be embedded in your existing website.
Redirect each individual episode
You take the same steps for each individual episode you publish. Go to Episodes in the dashboard menu of your Springcast app, scroll down to Episode URL and submit the URL of where your episode is published (see image below), i.e. your own website or blog.
A RSS feed always needs a valid link to a podcast website in order to work properly in Spotify and Apple! If you don't do this, there is a chance your feed is not being processed properly by Spotify or Apple.
Our advice: make sure you use your Springcast dashboard to set up your podcast links and always double check if you redirected your podcast and episodes correctly. You can also use a 301 redirect. This signals a permanent redirect from one URL to another, meaning all users who visit the old URL will be automatically sent to the new URL. This way, you're sure that people visit the right website when they want to listen to your podcast.
Important: with each new episode you'll need to adjust the episode URL. If you don't do this, there is a chance your feed is not being processed properly by Spotify or Apple.
Happy podcasting!
