Sometimes you get a little too excited and it happens that you upload the wrong audio file or the incorrect podcast artwork to your podcast episode. That can sometimes cause problems...
" I uploaded a new episode yesterday, only I didn't use the right audio file the 1st time. Now I see on Spotify that the audio file has not been updated. When is this going to change though? "
Your audio file is not updated right away after modifying, for that your feed has to be retrieved by Spotify or Apple first. And that only happens if there is an obvious change to your feed from before.
There are some solutions to make a change faster to be picked up by the directories:
1. Add a new audio file with a custom filename
Spotify only updates your episode if they see that something has changed. So make sure the new filename is slightly different from the incorrectly uploaded file. It will probably take a while... (maybe 24-48 hours), but if all goes well, the correct audio file will be with your episode.
2. Delete the erroneous episode
Another solution is to delete the old episode. This takes about 5 minutes for Spotify to implement. And then create a new episode and upload the correct audio file. It may then take up to 24 hours, but you will be assured of the correct audio with your episode. Note; the old episode doesn't always disappear immediately....
3. Rename the episode.
This helps if you added the wrong artwork. Spotify and Apple recognize this change, and that's a reason for them to pull the feed again.
These quick fixes have all been successful before, but unfortunately no guarantee. Patience is always important with these types of changes, after 48 hours there should be results ;D.
