If you are currently hosting your podcast with Megaphone and want to move it to Springcast, follow the steps below.
NOTE: Megaphone previously enabled automatic distribution of your podcast. Your podcast was thus also placed on Spotify and Apple with the click of a button. Because of this automatic distribution, you do not have access to the dashboards of these platforms and you will soon not be able to submit your move. Therefore, claim ownership of your podcast on Spotify and Apple before you start the move. Have you submitted the podcast yourself to the apps and do you have separate Spotify and Apple accounts? Then you can skip this.1. Import your podcast
To import all episodes from Megaphone, follow these steps.
1. Go to your Springcast account or create an account
2. Select 'Add Podcast Show' in the top right corner and then select 'Import Podcast'
3. Paste your current RSS feed from Megaphone and select 'Start Import'
1. Go to your Springcast account or create an account
2. Select 'Add Podcast Show' in the top right corner and then select 'Import Podcast'
3. Paste your current RSS feed from Megaphone and select 'Start Import'
2. Export your statistics
It is wise to export your Megaphone statistics. Make sure you do this before you move to Springcast. This way, your statistics will remain up-to-date. Unfortunately, you won't be able to bring your Megaphone statistics with you to Springcast.
1. Log in to your Megaphone account
2. Go to your dashboard
3. View which statistics you want to export
4. Select from which period you want to export the statistics, e.g. 'All time'.
5. Click 'Export' at the bottom of each graph
6. You can also do this for specific episodes, by going to the statistics of an episode
3. Copy your Springcast RSS feed
Now it's time to copy your Springcast RSS feed. You need this to notify Megaphone of the move to Springcast.
Go to the 'Distribution' tab and select 'Copy' button next to the RSS link.
4. Report your move to Megaphone
NOTE: After placing the redirect, the episode level statistics in Spotify for Podcasters will be set to 0. If you want to keep these statistics, make sure you make an export before you place the redirect. Your general show-level data, such as streams, listeners, and followers, will be retained after placing the redirect.
NOTE: After placing the redirect, the URLs to the podcast pages and the embedded players of Megaphone may no longer work. Do you use this? Then make sure you replace them with Springcast's URLs or embedded players before placing the redirect or as soon as possible after placing the redirect.
Checked everything when importing your podcast and exported the statistics? Well done! Now it's time to let Megaphone know you're moving. You do this by placing a 301 Redirect. This is a permanent redirect from one URL to another. You will need the Springcast RSS feed you've copied in the previous step.
At Megaphone you cannot place the redirect yourself, but you can ask them to do this for you via chat (on the website) or via e-mail. The e-mail address is support@megaphone.fm.
Please state in your message that you want to place a redirect and also add your old RSS feed (from Megaphone) and your new RSS feed (from Springcast) to the message.
It may take up to 48 hours for the redirect to be posted.5. Notify Spotify and Apple of the move
Notify your podcast distribution apps (such as Spotify and Apple) of the move.
We advise you to not close the Megaphone account immediately, but 2 weeks after the move. This gives the directories time to direct listeners to the correct (new) feed. Only cancel your subscription/account to Megaphone when you are sure that the above steps have been successfully completed.
